Admissions Scholarships
Competitive and Mentored Scholarships: December 1 deadline.
- Additional application and materials required.
- Students who are eligible to apply for these scholarships will find their next steps in their UofL Application Gateway soon after they apply to UofL.
All other Admissions Scholarships: No deadline; awarded through May 1.
No scholarship application required.
- Students who meet the minimum criteria will be notified of their award or eligibility in their New Cards Gateway.
- All awards listed are renewable.
- Admissions scholarships cannot be stacked with other admissions scholarships.
- Students will receive the highest scholarship amount they qualify for.
- Students attending school on an F1 visa are not eligible for admissions scholarships. International scholarships are available.
All scholarships are open to all eligible students regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability or age.
Students are encouraged to submit test scores. Test scores are only considered when they advantage the student. Students applying without test scores are considered for scholarships with a comprehensive academic review. Students who have participated in AP, CLEP, IB, dual credit, etc. coursework, and who meet the weighted GPA requirement, will be considered for scholarships without qualifying test scores.

*Students with a 4.0 GPA may be eligible to apply without qualifying test scores after a comprehensive academic review. Students who qualify for the $10,000 GSA, GSP, GSE Award, Gatton Academy & Craft Academy Award, Rogers Scholars Award are also eligible to apply. Awards are selective based on review and are not guaranteed.
In addition to monetary awards, these scholarships have significant programming components which can include travel, leadership, service, research and more.
All mentored scholarships require an additional scholarship application, letters of recommendation, an essay, a student-involvement resume and admission to and participation in the University Honors Program. View the resume scoring rubric.

FAFSA-Based Aid
If you wish to apply for any need-based program, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). UofL’s school code is 001999.
The 2025-2026 FAFSA will open on December 1, 2024. Students who wish to start at UofL in Fall 2025 are highly recommended to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after it opens.
• Need-based aid, tuition assistance and scholarships do not need to be repaid.
• Loans require repayment. Subsidized loans charge interest after graduation. Unsubsidized loans charge interest immediately.
• All amounts below are based on the 2024-2025 FAFSA.

The Cardinal Commitment Grant narrows the gap between scholarships/financial aid and the cost of attendance.*
