Admissions Scholarships
Competitive and Mentored Scholarships: Dec. 1 deadline.
- Additional application and materials required.
- Students who are eligible to apply for these scholarships will find their next steps in their UofL Gateway soon after they apply to UofL.
All other Admissions Scholarships: No deadline. Guaranteed to be awarded to students admitted by April 1.
No scholarship application required.
- Students who meet the minimum criteria will be notified of their award or eligibility in their UofL Gateway.
- All scholarships are open to all eligible students regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability or age.
- All awards listed are renewable.
- Admissions scholarships cannot be stacked with other admissions scholarships unless otherwise noted.
- Students will receive the highest scholarship amount they qualify for.
- All scholarships are available for students who are residents of Kentucky or Southern Indiana (Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Harrison, Perry, Scott and Washington Counties). Students attending school on an F1 visa are only eligible for international scholarships.
Students are encouraged to submit test scores. Test scores are only considered when they advantage the student. Students who have participated in AP, CLEP, IB, dual credit, etc. coursework, and who meet the weighted GPA requirement, will be considered for scholarships without qualifying test scores.

*Students who qualify for this award are eligible to apply for the Competitive Trustees’ and Henry Vogt Scholarships.
**Student has to qualify for $7,500 award with test scores, have 21+ transferable credit hours ( 7+ courses) and a 3.5 weighted GPA.
Students are selected by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for this honor.

Students enrolled in online degree programs are billed per credit hour. Students taking more than 12 hours will have additional tuition charges not covered by the National Merit Finalist/Semifinalist Scholarship.
All competitive scholarships require an additional scholarship application and a student-involvement resume. View the resume scoring rubric. Other requirements can include essays, letters of recommendation or interviews. All awards are competitive and not guaranteed.

*Students with a 4.0 GPA may be eligible to apply without qualifying test scores if they have at least 21+ transferrable credit hours (7 courses). Students who qualify for the $10,000 GSA, GSP, GSE Award, Gatton Academy & Craft Academy Award or Rogers Scholars Award are also eligible to apply.
In addition to monetary awards, these scholarships have significant programming components which can include travel, leadership, service, research and more.
All mentored scholarships require an additional scholarship application, letters of recommendation, an essay, a student-involvement resume and admission to and participation in the University Honors Program. View the resume scoring rubric.

FAFSA-Based Aid
If you wish to apply for any need-based program, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). UofL’s school code is 001999.
Students are highly recommended to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after it opens each year.
- Need-based aid, tuition assistance and scholarships do not need to be repaid.
- Loans require repayment. Subsidized loans charge interest after graduation.
- Unsubsidized loans charge interest immediately.
- All amounts below are based on the 2026-2027 FAFSA.
FAFSA-Based Aid
The Cardinal Commitment Grant narrows the gap between scholarships/financial aid and the cost of attendance.*
Cardinal Commitment Grants are available until funding is exhausted. Students who apply to UofL, and have submitted the FAFSA, will be considered. The priority deadline to be considered for the grant is Feb. 15.

***Students must receive all three forms of aid to have 100% of their tuition covered.
