Border Benefit Eligibility
Accepted first-time freshmen and transfers from the eligible areas below will automatically receive this renewable award. Students must attend school or reside in an eligible state or county:
- All Illinois Counties
- All Indiana Counties
- Excludes Southern Indiana counties eligible for in-state tuition (Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Harrison, Perry, Scott and Washington)
- All Missouri Counties
- All Ohio Counties
- Select Tennessee Counties
- Cheatham, Clay, Davidson, Macon, Maury, Montgomery, Pickett, Robertson, Rutherford, Stewart, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson
- All Virginia Counties
- All West Virginia Counties
All scholarships are open to all eligible students regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability or age.

**Transferable credit hours are credit for classes that count toward a degree program at the University of Louisville. These credits can come from passing AP, IB or Cambridge exams, or by passing a dual credit class that transfers to UofL from another accredited institution. Learn more about credit by exam.
The first-time freshman Border Benefit cannot be combined with the Grawemeyer Scholarship, Regional Scholars Award, National Scholars Program or National Merit finalist scholarship.
