Program Information

The College of Arts and Sciences and Sullivan University have joined together to create a 3+3 accelerated program that will allow Biology majors at UofL to finish their final year of coursework for the BA in Biology in concurrence with their first year of PharmD at Sullivan University.

Degree Summary

After completion of year 1 pharmacy courses at Sullivan University, students will transfer their credits to UofL and can graduate with a BA in Biology.

Departmental Admission Requirements

Admission to the BA in Biology with a 3+3 track to PharmD requires completion of BIOL 329 with a grade of B or better; completion of MATH 111 with a grade of B or better OR placement into a mathematics course above the level of MATH 111 on the basis of either the University of Louisville mathematics placement examination or ACT/SAT score; and a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0. Admitted students must maintain an overall minimum grade point average of 3.0 throughout the program.

Admission to Sullivan University - Pharmacy

The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences offers a unique, year-round accelerated Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program. Annually, a class of 50 to 60 students begin the program each July. The current qualifications for the joint degree program have been agreed upon by discipline faculty from the University of Louisville College of Arts and Sciences and Sullivan University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. All interested student must submit an application to the Sullivan University Doctor of Pharmacy program and meet the admission criteria.

All degrees require the completion of the University-wide General Education Program (link provided above). Some General Education requirements may be met in the requirements for the major or supporting coursework, in which case additional electives may be required to complete the minimum hours for the degree.

The specific courses are not required to graduate with a BA. They can be used to satisfy part of the required Biology electives for the major.

BIOL 350 may double count as a supporting course and a Biology major elective.
